Cursor IDE : Reduce your development time by upto 50% and Ship Faster
Cursor is one of most advanced AI enabled IDE that can build end to end applications with Prompt in a language of your choice.
Cursor!! Cursor!! Cursor!!
That's all you hear in the world of AI coding these days! And for a good reason — Cursor is currently one of the most advanced AI-powered code editors out there. It's insanely awesome.
With Cursor, and tools like Replit, I’ve managed to build applications just from ideas with minimal coding knowledge. This tool bridges the gap between vision and execution, making it accessible for people like me who aren't coding experts.
So, what exactly does Cursor do?
Applications that once took months to build can now be created in a week.
Building an MVP , now do it in a day
Entrepreneurs no longer have to rely on developers to get their products off the ground. Cursor turns your product management skills into your greatest asset — you just need to know how to define good product requirements, and boom, it's ready for execution.
Cursor is built on top of VS Code but takes things up several notches with some cool features that will blow your mind when you experience it for the first time. Let's dive in.
Composer: The Magical Game-Changer
One of the most powerful features of Cursor is its Composer. Imagine being able to write an entire application based on your product design requirements. Composer automatically generates code, organizes it neatly into folders, and keeps it synced with your codebase. It's pure magic!
You can code in the language of your choice, as it’s pretty good with the most used languages like Python, NextJs, React, HTML, CSS, JS etc..
Ran into an error? No problem! Just paste it into Composer, and it’ll fix it for you. Still having issues? Ask Composer to search the web for a solution — yes, it's that smart. Powered by advanced AI models like Claude 3.5 Sonnet, GPT 4 etc.. you can be damn fast in your coding.
Ctrl K in the Terminal
Ever forget terminal commands? I do — all the time. Cursor makes it ridiculously simple. Just type your command in plain English, and it converts it into the proper terminal code. It's like having a personal command-line assistant!
Other Awesome Features:
Knows Your Codebase: Cursor scans your entire codebase to give you the best answers or references — no more jumping from file to file.
Tab Completion: Predicts your next edit and lets you zip through changes effortlessly.
Function Writing: Functions in seconds, not minutes.
Codebase Answers: Quickly refer to files or docs in your project.
Use Images: You can even include images in your AI conversations to get visual context.
Ask the Web: Need more info? Let Cursor fetch the latest answers from the web.
I've built two of my previous products using Cursor
And guess what? I’ll continue using Cursor and Replit for all my future projects. Building MVPs has never been so quick, and I’m loving every minute of it.

However, like any other product, Cursor does have its cons:
AI Dependency: Its intelligence is only as good as the LLM model it’s based on, which means it can (and does) make mistakes.
Document and File Structure: To avoid errors like generating code in the wrong files or folders, you need a solid understanding of your project’s file structure and good documentation skills.
Over-Reliance: Accepting everything Cursor suggests blindly can lead to issues, including making your entire application non-functional. You need to validate and refine its suggestions carefully.
User Experience: The UX still needs work. For instance, when the Composer is expanded, it can be tricky to move it around, limiting the flow of your workspace.
No Chat History: One drawback is that Cursor doesn’t store your chat history, so if you close the app, you lose access to prior conversations.
However, I am sure they will fix them soon and with improvements in LLMs it only gonna get better.
